Celebrating all things apple...

A couple of weeks ago, Mr. J and I wanted to have a relaxing weekend at home but our active 3 year old decided otherwise! Searching for toddler friendly activities in our local area, I came across an Apple Festival at the beautiful Fenton House in Hampstead.

A former Merchant's house built in the 17th Century, it is now part of the National Trust. The house contains a solid collection of art, Chinese porcelain and Georgian furniture. However, the highlight for me was the early keyboard collection of Benton Fletcher's, as a pianist it was wonderful to see the 17th and 18th Century harpsichords.

In addition, there were plenty of activities to keep the children entertained, from face painting to giant board games in the garden. Our cheeky chap loved watching the apples going into the wooden fruit press and seeing the juice 'magically' appearing into a container. Though I think, he loved sampling the juice more! All in all, it was a wonderful way to spend a Saturday...
